In the last couple of days, there has been aggressive selling by the larger institutions, especially the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) in the F&O side of the business. This shows that there is a big of nervousness going towards the year end. CNBC-TV18’s Nimesh Shah reports.

Below is a verbatim transcript of his comments on CNBC-TV18. Also watch the accompanying video.

It has been quieter every passing day with lot of dealers on leave. It’s very clearly visible on the volumes as well. They have been slowing down at the institutional desk. However, for the last couple of days you have seen aggressive selling coming in by the larger institutions, especially the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) in the F&O side of the business. This shows that there is a big of nervousness going towards the year end.

You are seeing some bit of selling coming-in in the futures and cash market for the last few days. In yesterday’s trade, the FIIs were net sellers in the cash and futures market. Not much is coming in from global cues. Due to positive trading in the Asian region you will see some bit of positive tick.

It looks like the Nifty is going nowhere for the time being. Since some bit of action is coming in the midcap and non index stocks, focus is largely on that particular side of business. It shows from the kind of breadth you are seeing everyday. In yesterday’s trade, the breadth turned negative. However, there is lot of focus and expectation that the midcap and smallcap will out perform at least for the time being.
